"Building Confidence through Competence"
Level 1-A - Advanced Handgun Marksmanship Spring 2012 - Saturday, Mar. 31st.
Call for further Information - Cedar Ridge Range (830) 980-4424. Law Enforcement or Private Groups meeting minimum student requirements may call to arrange Private Scheduling for their convenience.
The Level 1- A class will be conducted by Instructor Greg Ferris. The class will be 5 hours in duration (9 am until 2 pm) with a meal break. These classes are "not" beginner level classes. Prospective students may be required to demonstrate a basic ability to safely handle and shoot their handgun prior to acceptance into the class. Students may also be required to present valid ID and demonstrate a clear criminal history.
Primary requirements are enthusiasm, a willingness to experiment, to learn new skills and overcome challenges.
Students will provide their own quality big bore handguns (semi-auto and/or revolver), 250+ rounds of quality practice ammunition (no reloads, steel jacketed bullets, i.e. Wolf, Herters or similar brand ammo or military surplus) and 50 rounds of "true" (bet your life on it) defense quality ammo for each firearm.
Also required is suitable hearing and eye protection, a suitable holster (strong side hip/outside type only, no concealed types) and belt. Handgun may have laser or mounted flashlight system also, if desired. All students should plan to bring sufficient food and beverages (especially water) to sustain them for on-site meal and breaks. Pen/pencil and paper should be considered for note taking.
Unlike the Texas CHL course which teaches "when" to legally employ deadly force, this class will teach the "how" of effectively employing deadly force with a handgun by application of correct marksmanship technique. Course format may include, but not be limited to, training in the various styles of position shooting and tactical/stress skills. There will be in-depth discussions, experimentation in and practice of: marksmanship techniques, managing psychological and physical influences on marksmanship during deadly force incidents, evaluation of factors in choosing appropriate handguns and ammunition, proper handgun handling techniques and mental mind set training.
Six (6) student minimum is required per class date. Enrollment is based on first paid (in full) is first served. Enrollment fee of $75.00/class is NON-REFUNDABLE. (Allowance to attend a future class may be arranged if cancellation made in time to fill vacated slot.)
