The Inaugural .22 Handgun Steel Match is rescheduled to Sunday, March 11th, 2012.
The Texas Steel club will introduce a new format, with new targets, based on the Steel Challenge which will be limited strictly to handguns firing the popular and inexpensive .22 LR cartridge. This will provide competitors with the opportunity to dust off and shoot their old .22's as well as encourage new shooters to give the competitive experience a try without incurring the cost of pricey ammo and firearms. Contact info listed below for those wishing to obtain further details.
The
Texas Steel club was formed to introduce and allow handgun action
shooters to compete in the Speed Steel shooting discipline as defined by
the Steel Challenge National Tournament.
In this handgun discipline
shooters engage a variety of arrays of different shaped and varied
distance steel plates. Each particular stage has its own challenges but
the object is to hit every plate in the fastest time possible. A
competitors score is based solely on time used (least amount wins).
Texas Steel matches are held the 2nd Saturday of each month.
The match consists of 5 stages with 5 runs per stage by each
competitor. Best 3 runs are scored and averaged. Competitor categories
(based on firearm and caliber) are: Open, Limited, Revolver, IDPA and
.22 cal. USPSA rules do govern.
All competitors must sign a liability
release form at registration. Junior shooters are welcome but must be
accompanied by an adult who assumes all liability responsibilities. New
attendees will be given safety orientation and advised on format.
Once
each year a special match is held, the "TEXAS STEEL CHAMPIONSHIP", with
the winner being proclaimed the King of Steel.
