Level 1

Classes are conducted by Instructor Greg Ferris. The class is 10 hours in duration (usually 10 am to 10 pm) with two meal breaks. The class is "not" a novice/beginner level class. Prospective students may be required to demonstrate a basic ability to safely handle and shoot their handgun prior to acceptance into the class. Students may also be required to present valid ID and demonstrate a clear criminal history.
Primary requirements are enthusiasm, a willingness to experiment, to learn new skills and overcome challenges. Students will provide their own quality big bore handgun (semi-auto and/or revolver ), 350+ rounds of quality practice ammunition (no reloads or military surplus) and 50 rounds of "true" (bet your life on it) defense quality ammo for each firearm, suitable hearing and eye protection (daylight and low light glasses) holster and belt and suitable hand held flashlight. Handgun may have laser or mount flashlight system also, if desired. Students should plan to bring sufficient food and beverages (especially water) to sustain them for on-site meals and breaks. Pen/pencil and paper should be considered for notetaking.
Unlike the Texas CHL course which teaches "when" to legally employ deadly force, this class teaches the "how" to employ deadly force with a handgun. Course format will include, but not be limited to, training in daytime and night (low light and artificial light) shooting, training in the various styles of position shooting and tactical/stress skills. There will be in-depth discussions, lecture and practice of: advanced marksmanship techniques, tactical principles and consideration in deadly force encounters, civil and criminal legal considerations, psychological and physical influences in deadly force incidents, as well as many of factors such as handgun and ammunition suitability, proper handgun handling techniques and mental mind set training.
Six (6) student minimum is required per class date. Enrollment is based on first paid (in full ) is first served. Enrollment fee is NON-REFUNDABLE. (Allowance to attend a future class may be arranged if cancellation made in time to fill vacated slot.)
Level 2
Class Fee - $75.00 (Cash or Check Only) (Next Class - TBA, Fall 2010)
Classes are conducted by Instructor Greg Ferris. The class is 4-5 hours in duration (3pm to 8 pm) with one meal break. Successful Completion of Level 1 is a Required Prerequisite for Prospective Level 2 students.
As in Level 1 class the primary requirements are enthusiasm, a willingness to experiment, to learn new skills and overcome challenges. Students will provide their own quality big bore handgun (semi-auto and/or revolver ), 350+ rounds of quality practice ammunition (no reloads or military surplus) for each firearm, suitable hearing and eye protection, holster (required)and suitable belt and spare ammo holders. This class date will have some "nightfire" so bring handheld flashlight and clear glasses. Gun mounted lasers or flashlights optional. Students should plan to bring sufficient food and beverages (especially water) to sustain them for on-site meal and breaks. Pen/pencil and paper should be considered for notetaking.
Course format will include, but not be limited to more training in the various styles of position shooting and tactical/stress skills. There will be more in-depth discussions, lecture, review and practice of: advanced marksmanship techniques, tactical principles and consideration in deadly force encounters, civil and criminal legal considerations, psychological and physical influences in deadly force incidents, as well as many of factors such as handgun and ammunition suitability, proper handgun handling techniques and mental mind set training. The primary focus of this class will be the practical application of skills learned in Level 1 and the use of proper mental mindset under various situational events. Students' actions and reasoning skills will be analyzed and constructively critiqued for positive reinforcement.
